Teaching Kids How Business Works—Through Story

Eddie the Entrepreneur exists to ensure that every child—regardless of background—has access to basic business knowledge before graduating high school.

We believe business literacy is not optional. It is a core competency.

In a capitalist society and a globalized world, understanding how money, work, value creation, and decision-making function is just as essential as math, reading, and writing. Yet for many children, business education is delayed, inaccessible, or only available to those who can afford higher education.

Eddie the Entrepreneur was created to change that—starting early, and making learning engaging, relatable, and free from barriers.

Our Mission

Our mission is to expose all children to business knowledge and concepts before they graduate high school.

We believe every child deserves a foundational understanding of:

  • How ideas turn into action

  • How value is created and exchanged

  • How work, money, and responsibility connect

  • How problem-solving and teamwork shape outcomes

Business literacy should not be a privilege reserved for adulthood or higher education. It should be a basic life skill taught alongside core subjects.

Our Founder’s Why

Eddie the Entrepreneur was founded by Devon D. Burnett MBA, a first-generation college graduate who had to earn a degree and take on significant student debt to access formal business education.

Devon saw firsthand that business knowledge—how organizations work, how money flows, how decisions are made—is powerful. But he also recognized a problem:
Too many people only gain this knowledge after high school, and often only after paying a high financial price.

In a society where business decisions affect nearly every aspect of life, Devon believes it should not require debt or privilege to become business literate.

That belief became the foundation of the Business Adventure of Eddie the Entrepreneur.

Why Story-Based Learning

Children learn best through stories.

Rather than lectures or textbooks, Eddie the Entrepreneur uses storytelling to introduce business concepts in a way children naturally understand. Through relatable characters and real-life situations, kids see how decisions are made, how problems are solved, and how effort creates outcomes.

The goal is not to turn every child into an entrepreneur.
The goal is to ensure every child understands how the world works.
